TOKYO (November 14, 2024) – Zevero, a leading provider of carbon management solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises, has announced a partnership with Sakura Sake Shop Co. This collaboration aims to promote a sustainable sake culture by reducing carbon footprints and supporting sake breweries in meeting global sustainability standards.
Sakura Sake Shop collaborates with over 70 sake breweries across Japan, exporting to more than 20 countries. With increasing international awareness of sustainability, this partnership will leverage Zevero’s AI-powered carbon accounting software and in-house expertise to support Sakura Sake Shop’s decarbonisation initiatives and product carbon footprint (PCF) calculations.
Ken Komazawa, Co-President of Sakura Sake Shop, said, “Sustainability and branding are already established as common strategies overseas. With the support of Zevero, we will strengthen our sustainability initiatives, promote the value of sake both in Japan and overseas, and aim to develop a culture in which sustainable sake is passed on to the next generation.”
Key Initiatives of the Partnership
Implementing AI-Powered Carbon Accounting
Zevero’s advanced platform will help Sakura Sake Shop accurately measure and analyse CO₂ emissions across the sake supply chain—from production to delivery. These insights will guide efficient emissions reduction strategies tailored to the industry.
Enhancing PCF Calculations
Drawing from extensive experience with craft breweries in the UK, Zevero will assist Sakura Sake Shop in quantifying carbon footprints, enabling sake producers to showcase sustainability as a unique value proposition to global consumers.
“It is a privilege to collaborate with Sakura Sake Shop to create a sustainable future for Japan’s traditional sake industry,” said Marvin Mori, CEO of Zevero Japan. “By combining Zevero’s technology with Sakura Sake Shop’s distribution expertise, we hope to enhance the industry’s competitiveness and environmental impact.”
Future Vision
This partnership represents a significant step toward embedding sustainability at the heart of the sake industry. By addressing the growing demands of environmentally conscious international markets, Zevero and Sakura Sake Shop aim to expand the adoption of carbon reduction practices among sake producers. Through this collaboration, Zevero will extend its comprehensive support across the industry, enabling Japanese sake to thrive sustainably on a global scale while preserving its cultural heritage for future generations.
